has a vacancy for an Academic Coordinator
The Leiden University Representative Office in Indonesia
has been established at the premises of the KITLV-Jakarta office at the
compound of the Embassy of the Kingdom in the Netherlands in Jakarta. KITLV
(Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde/Royal Netherlands
Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies)-Jakarta is part of Leiden
University Libraries (UBL) in co-operation with the Indonesian Institute of
Sciences (LIPI).
The main activities of the Leiden University
Representative office are:
– Support ongoing and increase academic cooperation with
Indonesian Higher Education and Research Institutes;
– Promotion and branding of Leiden University and
KITLV-Jakarta in Indonesia;
– Provide information and counseling to potential students;
– Maintain and increase the Leiden Alumni network in
Indonesia.
Responsibilities:
– Develop and implement strategies for academic
cooperation and joint research programs for Leiden University in Indonesia in
close cooperation with relevant faculties and staff of Leiden University;
– Support ongoing and establish new academic cooperation
with Indonesian Higher Education and Research Institutes focusing on History
& Heritage Studies, Health: Immunity, Infection & Tolerance, Contemporary
Society: Law & Governance, Contemporary Society: Popular Culture &
Islam, Languages & Linguistic Diversity, and Environment &
Biodiversity;
– Identify funding sources for research and scholarship
grants;
– Maintain and expand relationships with relevant counterparts,
scientists and researchers, international relations offices, government
officials;
– Support and coordinate the setting up of joint master
program(s) and a foundation year for prospect PhD candidates;
– Identify new areas of possible cooperation in the field
of research;
– Organize and support academic events such as lectures,
workshops and seminars;
– Collaborate with the Marketing and Communication
officer of the Leiden Representative Office to increase the visibility of
Leiden University in Indonesia as an international research driven university;
– Report to the director of KITLV-Jakarta/Leiden
Permanent Representative Office in Indonesia.
Requirements:
– Minimum Master degree (S2) but preferably a PhD degree
(S3). Preference goes to graduates from Leiden University;.
– Experienced in program management and academic
networking;
– Thorough understanding of the Indonesian and Dutch
higher education and academic research landscape;
– Excellent English communication skills in speaking and
writing;
– Strong networking, organizational, and problem solving
skills;
– Computer literate especially in MS office applications;
– Able to work in a team and independently.
