OverviewThe alumni of the Program to Extend Scholarships and Training to Achieve
Sustainable Impacts (PRESTASI) and the Human and Institutional Capacity
Development (HICD) program established a formal alumni association at their
first national meeting in March 2012. During the meeting, which was attended by
more than 70 alumni from all over Indonesia, the members present agreed to name
the organization Asosiasi Alumni Program Beasiswa Amerika – Indonesia (ALPHA-I).ALPHA-I has approximately 100 active members with diverse educational
and backgrounds from across Indonesia. The activities carried out by ALPHA-I
aim to increase public knowledge through education and research, advocacy and
community service, as well as innovative activities that address needs of the
community and develop relationships with local, regional and international
organizations.The primary objectives of ALPHA-I is to effectively leverage the skills
and talents of its members to provide services and assistance to the community
in general. Therefore, ALPHA-I and its members should utilize their leadership,
knowledge, and skills as part of their contribution to community change. Alumni
are required to become an agent of change in their workplace and community.

Duty of statement |
The Communications and Alumni Relation Specialist, under the direction of Secretariat Director will provide a broad range of internal and external public relations/communications support including research, writing and editing, project planning and social media management. The person will also maintain good relation with PRESTASI alumni; develop and implement a comprehensive program of activities designed to inform alumni and keep them involved with Alpha-I; Produce and disseminate strategic communications products using print and social media (newspaper, magazine, email, website, Facebook, Twitter, What’sApp, etc.). |
Specific duities |
1. Develop a communications strategy and annual plan that leverages Alpha-I’s secretariat, divisions and chapters 2. Coordinate communications activities with all divisions and chapters 3. Serve as Alumni Liaison and manage the Alpha-I’s alumni recruitment process 4. Maintain database with up-to-date information on alumni 5. Maintain regular communications with existing alumni 6. Write and edit articles and blog posts for Alpha-I 7. Manage post-event products: newsletters, social media campaigns, photo essays, etc. 8. Manage posting and updates to Alpha-I website and other distribution channels 9. Develop and update Alpha-I materials: inforgraphics, factsheets, advertisements, brochures, presentations, templates, etc. 10. Monitor email and posted messages from general public and alumni, and initiate follow-up as appropriate. 11. Coordinate execution of special projects to support Communications Objectives 12. Provide training in social media tools to Alpha-I members 13. Perform other duties assigned by the director. |

Qualification required |
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS · Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or closely related field. · Minimum of three (3) years experience in research, public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES · Skill in researching topics of discussion or interest · Ability to grasp essentials and core ideas from a wide array of information · Skill in speech/news/feature/column/letter writing and other specialty communications · Skill in developing and conducting presentations · Skill in operating software application packages (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint) · Skill in still, digital photography, using major social media platforms · Familiarity with electronic publishing tools (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) · Knowledge and understanding of video production and special events planning · Ability to communicate effective, both verbally and written, with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with ALPHA-I members, co-workers, donor, key stake holders, news media and the general public. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English with exceptional attention to details |
