Deputy Chief of Party
Chemonics International, an international
development consulting firm, seeks a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for an
anticipated USAID-funded Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) Activity. This anticipated
five-year USAID/Indonesia flagship project aims to contribute to national goals
to reduce maternal and newborn mortality by targeted support to improve
essential MNH services, particularly for the poorest and most vulnerable. Using
a total market approach, this activity aims to leverage solutions and resources
and catalyze stakeholders across all sectors to generate innovative solutions
for MNH. Ideal candidates will have experience working on international
donor-funded programs in the field of health, preferably with a focus on maternal
and neonatal health. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for

versatility, and integrity.
 
Position
Description:

The DCOP will support the COP and technical
team to lead, manage and support the implementation of the project. He/she will
supervise day-to-day operations of the project including monitoring and
evaluation, communications and administration such as logistics, procurement,
budgeting, financial management, human resources, and compliance. The DCOP will
supervise operational and administrative staff and will serve as acting COP
when required. He/she will report to the COP.
 
Responsibilities
include:

  • Provide
    support to the COP and technical team in day-to-day operational project
    implementation, management, client engagement, and coordination between
    partners, government counterparts, and other implementing partners
  • Manage
    recruitment and training of project staff and short term technical assistance
    including working with staff to develop long-term and short-term scopes of work
  • Responsible
    for administrative oversight and management of local subcontracts and grants
  • Ensure
    compliance with USAID regulations
  • Directly
    supervise finance & administration, monitoring and evaluation and
    communications staff

 
Qualifications:

  • At
    least 5 years of professional experience in managing international development
    projects including project operations, implementing work plans, controlling and
    tracking finances, and managing a team.
  • Experience
    working on health projects preferred
  • Advanced
    degree in a health-related field, business or international development
    preferred
  • Experience
    implementing USAID programs and demonstrated management experience on a
    USAID-funded project preferred
  • Additional
    technical expertise in innovation fund management, maternal/newborn health,
    communications, or monitoring and evaluation required
  • Experience
    with USAID policies, procedures, and systems required
  • Knowledge
    and experience working in South East Asia region preferred
  • English
    fluency required
