The objective of the aGROWforests for Sustainable Spices project is to contribute to a Sustainable, Bio-Diverse, Climate Resilient and Responsible Spices Sector In Indonesia. We do this by increasing farm productivity and income of pepper farmers, through climate smart agriculture and agroforestry, which also removes or reduces greenhouse gas emissions attributed to pepper farming and agriculture in general. The 3-year project targets 2,300 farmers (of which 30% women, 15% youth) in the provinces Bangka Belitung and Lampung in Indonesia.

The country project manager’s main objectives

As Country Project Manager, your main responsibilities are to manage, supervise and coordinate the work packages of the aGROWforests program in close cooperation with the consortium members from Indonesia and The Netherlands; plan and organize the country program in accordance with the program deliverables, analyse and advise the design and implementation of information (IT) systems, and represent the project inside the country, i.e. towards the private sector, governmental officials, embassies/consulates, international and national organizations, donor representatives, as well as national media.

  • Contribute to the development of a sustainable, bio-diverse, and climate-resilient spices farmers in the provinces Bangka Belitung and Lampung in Indonesia.
  • Work with project partners, experts and local stakeholders on the implementation of climate-smart agriculture and agroforestry practices.
  • Planning work and organizing a roadmap of a project
  • Set up, guide, and coordinate a project team
  • Ensure the successful implementation and completion of project activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and partners to achieve project goals.
  • Report on project progress and outcomes.

Competences

The minimum qualifications required for the applicant include:

  • Master’s Degree in business, agriculture, environmental studies, international development or related fields;
  • At least 8 years of project/programme management experience
  • Proven track record in managing a multidisciplinary team in Indonesia
  • Proven track record in project management in agroforestry and sustainability sector, including carbon projects;
  • Proven track record in coordinating and forming partnerships with Indonesian ministries and relevant stakeholders on General Director Level;
  • Relevant work experience in development and implementation of database systems and mobile apps to address good agricultural practices;
  • Relevant experience in working with international consortium partners in the field of international development;
  • Excellent in writing and communicating in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Based in Indonesia (preferably Jakarta, Bali, Bangka Belitung or Lampung).
  • Able to travel to Bangka Belitung, Lampung when relevant for the project.
  • Able to work from home or include office space cost in the quote.

Procedure

We request interested independent registered consultants to send us a proposal including a resume for the following period: 1 August 2024 till 30 May 2026 for a contract between 24 and 32 hours a week.

All proposals must include a budget in Euros, including local insurances, taxes and VAT. Excluding project travel costs, these will be separately covered by the consortium when relevant.
