Planet Partnerships is seeking a dedicated and collaborative individual with strong financing skills and a passion for economic development and sustainability for the Financial Markets Manager role. This position primarily focuses on supporting the firm’s initiatives in driving blended finance solutions, strategic partnerships, and innovative projects that effectively combine public and private resources, enhancing the viability and sustainability of projects across various sectors globally, with growth opportunities across international portfolio of Planet Partnerships.
As a key player in the firm, the Financial Markets Manager will help the firm continue to grow our role and brand as a leading source of advice to governments, financial institutions, and investors on partnership approaches to economic development. The role will be performed from our Jakarta office working with our international projects and teams in Asia Pacific, Africa, and the United States.
Responsibilities
The Financial Markets Manager will primarily support the firm’s project management and business development efforts, particularly in blended finance and investment opportunities. This role will provide technical support related to financial aspects, including the identification and structuring of innovative funding mechanisms and public-private partnerships (PPPs).
Approximately 50% of the role will be dedicated to supporting our MCC Program Management Consultant (PMC) program, focus on ensuring the successful implementation of the MCA Compact-2 Program through close stakeholder collaboration. The PMC will provide program administration support, enhance oversight, improve coordination across projects, and deliver flexible resources and technical advisory services to MCA-Indonesia II.
Key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:
Corporate Responsibilities:
- Support overall project planning, implementation and management of key projects in the firm’s portfolio. Project management will include quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC), meeting timelines, financial management support, and reporting to clients on all deliverables as required.
- Drive business development initiatives by conducting in-depth research and market analysis to identify new business opportunities.
- Provide technical assistance in various ongoing projects involving identifying and structuring innovative blended finance and investment mechanisms, combining public and private resources to enhance the sustainability of projects.
- Support the preparation of new activity Scope of Works, including to onboard long-term and short-term technical specialists.
- Provide support for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of projects.
- Coordinate with consultants, partners, clients, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and project alignment.
- Carry out other specific duties and tasks as may be assigned by the project team on demand in line with business needs.
PMC-Focused Responsibilities:
- Support the Deputy Team Leader and the FMDP Project Specialist in evaluating the current state of project finance and blended financing in Indonesia, identifying gaps, and proposing solutions through stakeholder engagement, gap analysis, and roadmap development. It also includes leading fundraising activities, conducting project pipeline screening, and developing financial models.
- Provide support to financial market assessment and capacity building initiatives, including providing support in primary data collections, processing and reviewing survey results, facilitating FGD sessions and work effectively with stakeholders to gather input and build consensus.
- Conduct project pipeline screening including conducting preliminary analysis, reviewing financial model and economic analysis, project structure, and documentations.
- Evaluate structured finance transactions, including reviewing project readiness assessments, financing options, project appraisal memos, and final reports.
- Evaluate blended finance transactions by reviewing progress reports, project appraisal memos, investment agreements, funding disbursements, and conducting case study workshops.
- Review and develop financial model, including business model, assumptions, accounting standard and economic IRR calculation.
- Review capacity-building materials and progress.
Qualification Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Commercial Law, Finance, or Economics and/or Master in Finance, Economics, Business.
- Five to six years of professional experience in blended financing and/or project finance in Indonesia and internationally, including its practical applications with understanding capital market transaction, green finance and/or sharia finance transaction is a plus.
- Expertise in project pipeline screening, project development, and financial model development and review.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial models to forecast cash flows, assess profitability, and evaluate financial viability.
- Skills in conducting feasibility studies to evaluate project viability and return on investment.
- In-depth knowledge of project finance structures, including non-recourse and limited-recourse financing.
- Proven experience in project planning, monitoring, management, and financial reporting for projects with multilateral institutions and bilateral donors such as USAID, MCC, World Bank, IFC, and ADB.
- Strong written communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia for preparing reports, proposals, and project documentation.
- Adaptability, responsiveness, and teamwork skills, with fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and social media platforms.
