WEI project areas are in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and other part of Indonesia, with the head office located in Jakarta. We are currently looking to fill the following position:

Geographic Information System (GIS) Officer – based in Jakarta

Location

GIS Officer will be based in South Jakarta, with possibility to visit the project location.

 

Contract Duration

1 (one) year fixed-term, full time employment with possibility for extension.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Reports directly to the Program Manager, s/he will carry out the collection and analysis of geographical data generated by geographical information systems (GIS).

Specific responsibilities of the GIS Officer include but are not limited to:

Geospatial Data Management:

  • Collect, analyze, and manage spatial data using GIS software and tools.
  • Maintain the GIS database and ensure its accuracy and reliability for project needs.

 

Mapping and Spatial Analysis:

  • Produce high-quality maps and perform spatial analysis to support project implementation and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator/Manager to integrate geospatial data into broader project objectives.

 

Technical Support and Development:

  • Provide technical assistance to the Program Coordinator and Program Officer (PO) in the use of GIS and related technologies and the troubleshooting.
  • Develop and update GIS-based applications and tools to improve project efficiency and outcomes.

 

Research and Data Collection:

  • Assist in field data collection and the integration of such data into the project’s GIS systems.
  • Conduct research using GIS to uncover insights, trends, and patterns that can inform project strategies.

 

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare detailed reports and visualizations that convey complex geospatial data in an understandable manner for stakeholders and the publishing data to the web.
  • Document methodologies and analyses for use in project reports, presentations, and decision-making.

 

Collaboration and Capacity Building:

  • Work closely with other project team members to ensure that GIS tools and data are used effectively across the project.
  • Facilitate training sessions for project staff and local partners including farmers on GIS technologies and applications.

 

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  2. Proficiency in GIS software and technologies.
  3. Numerical skills with the ability to analyze data and statistics.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  7. Willing to travel if required.
  8. The ability to work well under pressure.
  1. Proficient in English and Indonesian languages, both written and verbal.
