WLF is an Indonesian-based philanthropic foundation established in 2009 as an outgrowth of the philanthropic legacy of William and Lily Soeryadjaya. The overarching goal of WLF is to ensure that every Indonesian has an equal opportunity to flourish, which will be achieved by improving the access and quality of early childhood development and literacy and numeracy services that young Indonesians receive and enhancing the livelihoods and economic growth of their communities. WLF works with local partner organizations to achieve its goal by distributing grants.

 

WLF is committed to responsible and systemic interventions in its efforts to empower underprivileged communities across Indonesia. WLF’s current geographical focus centers on eastern Indonesia, specifically within the Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) province.

 

WLF is currently looking for the best fit for the following position: Partnerships & Communications Officer – based in Jakarta.

Purpose

The William & Lily Foundation (WLF) is an Indonesian-based philanthropic foundation established in 2009 as an outgrow of the philanthropic legacy of William and Lily Soeryadjaya. WLF is a grant-making foundation with the aim of providing funding and technical assistance to local organizations who are working on WLF’s focus areas. To maximize the impact of our grantees’ work, we establish partnerships with relevant stakeholders such as government bodies, peer organizations and other organizations or networks that can provide additional support to our grantees in whatever form that may be. These partnerships help create an enabling environment wherein our grantees can create systemic and sustainable impact through their programs.

 

Job Responsibilities

The Partnerships & Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing the partnerships & communications framework and strategy that will help us build and strengthen our engagement with all these relevant stakeholders as well as raise awareness of our grantees and their work.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement WLF’s partnerships and communications strategy with consideration to different stakeholders that are relevant to WLF as a grant-making foundation.
  • Develop and maintain a stakeholder map.
  • Actively engage and maintain relationships with WLF’s relevant strategic stakeholders through different channels and activities.
  • Build up WLF’s engagement in networks or associations that are strategic for WLF.
  • Develop activities, events and relevant communications materials (including but not limited to reports, newsletters, press releases etc.) to help achieve the goals and objectives of the partnerships and communications strategy.
  • Attend national and regional events to gain and share knowledge relevant to WLF’s programs and activities as well as to raise awareness of WLF’s work.
  • Manage dissemination of communications materials through selected online platforms such as website and email
  • Coordinate and manage vendors and consultants to support production and dissemination of communications materials as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a communications database for the Foundation.
  • Other tasks assigned   related to partnership and communications.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum
  • At least 3 years of experience managing communications and stakeholder engagement; experience in development or non-profit organizations is an advantage.

  

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Passionate about improving Indonesia and excited about WLF’s desire to help underprivileged communities through early childhood development, basic literacy and numeracy, as well as local economic empowerment.    
  • Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English languages (verbally, reading, and writing).
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships in order to work effectively within a complex environment involving both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Have a strong knowledge on the civil society networks in Indonesia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in overseeing the production of communication materials, media relations, high-level events, infographics, videos, websites, webinars and other multimedia web content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate and influence both internally and externally.
  • Excellent skills in developing and presenting communications content, including synthesizing information.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to deliver at a high quality consistently.
  • At least basic knowledge on website development and management.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Team player, high commitment to work and good interpersonal communication skills
  • Independent thinking with an openness to and enthusiasm for learning and new ideas and approaches
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a sense of humor.
