Agriculture
sector in Indonesia is currently facing serious issue, not only
connected to environment support system that being getting decreased
nowadays, the land space are being getting limited and unbalanced
market/unfair value chain but also farmer degradation in term of
numbers. Research shows in every year the amount of farmers has
decreased. Meanwhile, small numbers of youngsters who involve within
this sector. Indonesia official statistic agency proves that only 12
percents of farmers in total, coming from under 35 years old that makes
this situation putting food sovereignty and food security in worryness.
Without
any young farmers, this objective that actually integrated within 9
agenda of priorities of Joko Widodo government will be difficult to
implement. This situation pushes forward Oxfam in Indonesia to reflect
to be more encourage Youth Regeneration with the network of youth in
farming consisting of CSO and private sectors who also actively take a
lead on Youth Agripreneurs Ambassador 2016, that have been organised
twice in 2016.
This collective initiative
is very crucial to shift young regeneration to be more integrated into
planning, policy, and come with level of practice, not only limited in
the level of knowledge. Furthermore, the initiative would be expected
to be a heaver in strengthening the issue of youth regeneration in
national level. As a direction to show that this activity has been
started, we need to organise the event that involved all stakeholders
including government and media in National Farmer’s Day to give
exposure that the more strengthening the issue of young farmer
regeneration and involvement by multi stakeholders in this effort, it
would be opportunity to enrich capital toward food sovereignty in
Indonesia.
Objective
Increasing
awareness of public to spread young farmers regeneration becoming a
mainstream national issue in the momentum of national farmer’s day.
Get youngsters interest to join the platform and support the existing
young farmers.
Time Line
One event that presenting the idea of young farmers regeneration in celebration of national farmer’s day, September 24 2017 and will finish until September 30, 2017.
Skills & Qualifications
- 1. Independent community, youth community or organisation are encouraged to apply
2. A team who has more than 5 years experience in organising event that targeted for young people
3. A team who has concern on youth in farming as core of their issue
4.
A team must show their eager to work and collaborate with Oxfam in
Indonesia in every process of influencing work, including campaign
design until monitoring and evaluation of event.
