Program Development Internship

Role Purpose

The Program Development Intern will assist the Program Development Unit in mapping the alignment of development cooperation priorities from donor countries and thematic focuses of contracting companies with Plan Indonesia’s thematic areas. The intern will also provide necessary support during the design phase by conducting analysis of relevant information for proposal development, engaging in collaboration with internal teams, Plan International colleagues, and potential partners, and assisting in proposal writing. The scope of mapping and funding opportunities primarily relates to major bilateral and multilateral development institutions, including those facilitated through contracting companies, as well as private companies and philanthropic institutions.

Dimensions of the Role

  • Evaluate development strategies of international development institutions and priorities of contracting companies in Indonesia and the region to identify potential areas for collaboration and growth.
  • Assist in the development of project proposals by conducting thorough research on relevant topics, gathering necessary information, and involving in the proposal development.

Accountabilities

  • Conduct desk review of the development strategies of key international development institutions and priorities of contracting companies that have alignment with Plan Indonesia’s thematic program, to provide detailed analyses and insight for potential collaboration opportunities for Plan Indonesia.
  • Collaborate with proposal development team to gather and synthesize relevant information for the development of project proposals.
  • Provide input to project proposals through research and analyze various topics including but not limited to demographics, policies, government priorities, and best practices, to inform decision-making and proposal development processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposal documents, ensuring adherence to guidelines and requirements set forth by stakeholders and funding entities.
  • Support in the coordination of meetings and consultations with key stakeholders to gather input and feedback for the refinement of project proposals.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards by handling sensitive information and data with discretion and integrity.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures, including compliance with safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusion guidelines, in all aspects of work.

Requirements for the role:

  • Student in the middle of pursuing a Master/Bachelor’s degree
Technical Expertise: ·    Basic analytical and research skills, with a willingness to learn further

·    Ability to synthesize information and data with guidance from the supervisor

·    Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools (Mural, Miro, Mentimeter)

·    Experience in conducting desk reviews or research studies (preferred)

Skills: ·    Good written and verbal communication skills

·    Interest in and willingness to develop organizational skills and attention to detail

·    Ability to work collaboratively with the Program Development Unit and other stakeholders

·    Strong interpersonal skills

·    Excellent writing and editing skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia

Knowledge: ·    Interest in and basic understanding of child rights and gender equality issues

·    Interest in and basic understanding of development cooperation and resource mobilization

·    Familiarity with the Indonesian context (preferred)

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

The Program Development Intern will work in a hybrid environment, with a mix of work from home and work from the office. When working from the office, they will be based at the Plan Indonesia office in Jakarta, which has open work space with standard office amenities. When working from home, the intern is expected to have access to a quiet and secure workspace, reliable internet connection, and a personal computer or laptop.
