Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS) is an international NGO based in Germany, dedicated to improving the livelihoods of smallholder coffee farmers while conserving natural resources. The Bukit Barisan Selatan (BBS) project, located in the buffer zone of the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, aims to improve the livelihoods of farmer families while addressing deforestation and protecting biodiversity in this UNESCO World Heritage site. The Project Manager will oversee the implementation of the BBS project, ensuring that all activities are aligned with HRNS’s mission and objectives. The role requires a deep understanding of agricultural development, conservation strategies, and community engagement. The Project Manager will coordinate closely with various stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and partner organizations, to achieve the project’s goals.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Implementation

  1. Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of project activities in OKU Selatan and Lampung Barat.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to improve farmer livelihoods, reduce deforestation, and enhance biodiversity conservation.
  3. Manage the project’s budget, ensuring that all expenditures are in line with the allocated resources.
  4. Support the development and monitor the implementation of costed work plans.
  5. Review fund requests, check for availability of funds and participate in budget review and provide updates on project performance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  1. Collaborate with local government agencies, the BBS Park Authority, the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and other key partners to ensure effective project implementation.
  2. Engage with local communities to foster participation in project activities and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
  3. Represent HRNS in meetings, workshops, and forums related to the BBS project.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  1. Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to track project progress and impact.
  2. Prepare and submit regular progress reports to HRNS management and donors, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
  3. Ensure that all project activities are documented, and that data is collected for future analysis and decision-making.

Team Leadership

  1. Supervise and mentor project staff, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to achieve project objectives.
  2. Facilitate training and capacity-building initiatives for project staff and local partners.
  3. Foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the project team.

 

Required profile:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, particularly in the areas of agricultural development, conservation, or community development.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable agricultural practices, agroforestry, and rural development.
  • Proven track record of working with rural communities, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia; English proficiency is required.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites in remote areas.
  • Candidates who are domiciled and/or from the Oku Selatan area and other surrounding regencies will be prioritized.
  • Ability to drive a heavy motorbike and manual-transmission car.
