Project Officer and Media Assistant for INSPIRE Project in Lombok, NTB

Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia (YRII) is an independent humanitarian and development organization. YRII, previously Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia as globally with Islamic Relief Worldwide we have been fighting poverty and injustice for 30 years, in a world where more than three billion people still live in poverty

Country Purpose:

Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia has been operating since 2003 and officially became Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia in January 2022. The objective of the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia program is to contribute to the social welfare of the Indonesian people and to alleviate suffering. The main sectors for the program include:

  • Water and Sanitation

  • Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Climate Change

The geographical area: NTB, Aceh, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, and Jakarta Province will be expanded to all regions of Indonesia according to the development of the organization. The implementation of the program is carried out directly by YRII or through cooperation partners.

Project Overview:

Islamic Relief currently implementing the INSPIRE 2024 project is aimed at improving the well-being of poor and orphan children participating in INSPIRE program.  The project’s outcome is increased access to capacity building, educational support, and food assistance for poor and orphan children in Lombok Island, NTB Province, Indonesia.  To achieve its outcome and contribute to its impact, the project will use two main interventions: enhancing access to capacity-building initiatives and increasing cultural and project awareness.

INSPIRE project is aligned with the country strategy and main programs of IR Indonesia. While INSPIRE will engage with orphans and school students, the project is relevant to one of the main programs, namely the child welfare program.

Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia is seeking a Project Officer and Media Assistant based in Lombok, NTB

Job Summary:

       1. Project Officer

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the NTB Area Coordinator, the Project Officer will provide technical support to implement the INSPIRE Project. S/he will lead the project implementation and liaise with project stakeholders (project team including MEAL team, local government, local partners, volunteers, right holders and etc) to ensure project deliverables are achieved on scope, time, and budget. S/he must perform her/his assigned areas with respect to technical assessments, awareness-raising, rights holders profiling, designing, and delivering training/workshop/meeting. The respected position will capacitate the staff and volunteers in undertaking  their duties and assignments accordingly

Requirements:

  • University degree in Development Studies, international relations, or another related field
  • Three years minimum experience in child protection, children participation, community engagement, advocacy, and livelihoods
  • Have experience working with implementing partners such as local NGO or government
  • Capacity to work under pressure
  • Computer literate with fluency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and survey tools
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct/oversee assessments, facilitate various meetings with local government, university, and Islamic boarding school management, and also engagement with children, etc
  • Experience in the evaluation of development projects using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Expertise in child protection and children participation issues and Community Engagement as well
  • Able to write quality reports supported by data and evidence.
  • Project management skill is required.
  • Knowledge and practical understanding and ability to work within both relief and development NGO contexts.
  • Good communication skills in both English and Bahasa Indonesia
  • Strong interest in development work with respect for confidentiality and commitment to YRII’s overall aims and objectives, including gender, equality, and equal opportunities in all aspects of YRII’s work.

       2. Media Assistant

Job Summary:

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the NTB Area Coordinator and Media Communication Officer, the Media Assistant will coordinate and deliver resources and processes in support of the media component of the Islamic Relief program. Media assistants distribute content to promote an organization’s brand, activities, and program, and develop media products that capture Islamic Relief’s vision, mission, and activities in Indonesia, with a major focus on the Impact, Innovation, and added value of Islamic Faith-Based Organization in Indonesia. In addition, s/he will work closely with the fundraising team to ensure campaign deliverables are achieved on scope, time, and budget.

S/he must perform her/his assigned areas with respect to technical assessments, awareness-raising, rights holders profiling, designing, and delivering training. The respected position will capacitate the staff and volunteers in undertaking  their duties and assignments accordingly

Requirements:

  • University degree in media and communication, journalism, social science, or other related fields.
  • 1-2 years minimum experience in Media and Communication, graphic design, or relevant fields.
  • Have experience working with implementing partners such as local NGOs or government.
  • Capacity to work under pressure.
  • Computer literate with fluency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and adobe software.
  • Media and communication, graphic design, journalism, social science, or relevant fields.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, working as a team member.
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation, with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles.
  • Able to write report quality reports supported by data and evidence
  • Able to take decent photographs align with Islamic Relief Media guidelines.
  • Able to write quality reports supported by data and evidence.
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of and ability to work within both relief and development NGO contexts.
  • Strong interest in development work with respect for confidentiality and commitment to YRII’s overall aims and objectives, including gender, equality, and equal opportunities in all aspects of YRII’s work.
