BREASTFEEDING COUNSELLOR TRAINING, SUPPORTIVE
SUPERVISION, WORKSHOP ON CoI OF BREAST FEEDING PROMOTION, AND EVALUATE
THE ADOPTION OF THE 10 STEPS OF SUCCESSFUL BREASTFEEDING (10 LMKM) IN
HEALTH FACILITIES

(BADUTA) Project in Sidoarjo and Malang Districts of East Java

Background

The optimal feeding during first thousand days of life are good
nutrition during pregnancy, early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive
breastfeeding for first six month, continue breastfeeding up to two
years and timely and proper complementary feeding regarding babies/young
children’s age. Infant and child feeding in many conditions relies on
mothers/caregivers’ knowledge.

Based on basic health survey 2013, the prevalence of early initiation
of breastfeeding was 34.5 % and exclusive breastfeeding was 30.2 %.
From study in Indonesia, most of mothers are not successful to give
exclusive breastfeeding because lack of support from health staffs and
family support. One of factors that influence the support from health
staffs are capacity/counseling skills of health staffs.

To build the supporting environment, Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik
(Save the Children) through BADUTA Project implementing of ten steps to
successful of breastfeeding (10 LMKM). There are some steps for
strengthening and review the 10 LMKM as describe in following scheme:

Purpose

Under this contract, provider will provide Breastfeeding Expert,
Course Director and Senior Facilitator, Training kits, and Counseling

kits for breastfeeding counseling training (2 times); Course Director,
Senior Facilitator, Supportive supervision (3 times); Course Director,
Facilitator, Technical learning of 10 LMKM (1 time), and workshop of CoI
of Breast Feeding Promotion (3 times).

Requirement for institution:

Have experiences in providing Supportive Supervision, Training of
Breast Feeding Counseling training using updated material (Revised
module 2011), and Implemented 10 LMKM

Responsibilities:

For BFC Training:

1. Provide Course Director, Breast Feeding Expert, and Senior Facilitator
2. Engage and lead on the preparation and evaluation meeting
3. Organize breastfeeding counselors training collaborate with Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik (Save the Children), Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Malang and Sidoarjo
4. Provide tools, practical practices, and module
5. Manage the facilitators to deliver the training as standardized with Nutrition Specialist
6. Ensure and attend day-to-day schedule
7. Guide counselors in all sessions
8. Provide feed-back for the improvement of quality of training
9. Provide training report which include recommendation for future training

 For Supportive Supervision:

1. Provide Course Director & Senior Facilitator for capacity building in supportive supervision
2. Engage and lead on the preparation and evaluation meeting
3. Organize supportive supervision collaborate with Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik (Save the Children) , Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Malang and Sidoarjo
4. Provide tools, practical practices, and module
5. Manage to deliver the training as standardized coordinated with Senior Facilitator
6. Ensure and attend day-to-day schedule
7. Guide the BFC facilitators in doing supportive supervision to counselors
8. Provide feedback to BFC facilitators when doing supportive supervision
9. Provide feed-back for the improvement of quality of training for supportive supervision
10. Provide training report which include recommendation for future training

 For Technical Learning of the Implementation of the 10 LMKM

1. Provide Course Director and Facilitator for capacity building in 10 LMKM
2. Engage and lead on the preparation and evaluation meeting
3. Organize 10 LMKM training and event collaborate with Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik (Save the Children), Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Malang and Sidoarjo
4. Provide tools, practical practices, and module
5. Provide feedback to the health facilities  for the implementation of the 10 LMKM
6. Provide feed-back for the improvement of quality of the implementation

 Workshop on CoI of Breast Feeding Promotion

1. Provide Course Director and Facilitators for CoI of Breast Feeding workshop
2. Engage on the preparation and evaluation meeting
3. In close coordination with Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik (Save the Children) facilitate  

     the  CoI of Breast Feeding Promotion Workshop

1. Provide practical practices and manual
2. Provide feedback for future improvement
