USAID SEGAR is seeking one short-term technical assistant (consultant) to support Fish biodiversity survey for ecotourism attraction and economic benefit in Danau Laet, Sanggau District.

USAID SEGAR is a five-year (2021-2026) Activity designed to advance Indonesia’s development objectives in balancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use with inclusive economic and livelihoods development. To accomplish this, targeted subnational jurisdictions with high conservation values (HCV) and High Carbon Stocks (HCS) will be supported to improve management of natural resources that measurably conserves biodiversity, decreases greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from unsustainable land use, and promotes sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
Expected Outputs and Outcomes
- Design and methodology of biodiversity inventory developed and discussed with stakeholders to meet scientific standards.
- Biodiversity inventory of fishery in Danau Laet established.
- Data on fish diversity of Danau Laet collected
- Workshop to share field survey results implemented.
- Final report produced.
Key Tasks
- Develop the methodology for the fish biodiversity survey and inventory.
- Conduct the survey and biodiversity inventory of fisheries in Danau Laet.
- Prepare a draft report of the field survey results.
- Present the draft survey findings to key stakeholders and finalize the report based on feedback and input.

Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to natural resource management and fisheries science.
- Proven experience in fresh water fish identification and ecology
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in the field of preparing design, planning, and conducting survey and biodiversity inventory of fisheries.
- Prior experience in producing high-quality reports in similar work and knowledge of fisheries in Borneo.
- Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that all parties can share relevant information and participate in the review of final report.
- Proven ability to work in a team.
