1 (one) position, 1 year contract – renewable – Jakarta
 
 
The UK Ministry of Defence funded, British Council Peacekeeping
English Project is a specialist ELT project which plays a significant role in
strengthening UK-Indonesia relations. It achieves this through a wide range
of initiatives to improve the English language skills of Indonesian military
personnel. These include:

  • Teacher Training:
    Delivering a range of initiatives to develop the teaching skills of
    Indonesian language teachers working for the military.
  • Pathways to overseas study (IELTS / EAP): Developing courses for military personnel preparing for
    postgraduate study overseas and / or joint military training exercises.
  • ESP Materials Development – ‘English for UN Peacekeepers’: Designing specific English language training material for UN
    Military and Police Peacekeepers.

The Project Management of the Peacekeeping English Project in
Indonesia a very exciting opportunity to lead and develop a high profile,
high-impact ELT project in a rapidly developing country.
Whist reporting to a wide range of project stakeholders, the Peacekeeping
English Project Management is a relatively autonomous position. The
post-holder will therefore have to be very self-resourceful, pragmatic, and
able to analyse challenges and set goals for medium-term and long-term
success. The post-holder will have need to be able to demonstrate
considerable flexibility, patience and excellent interpersonal skills in
order to build and maintain close professional relationships, and pursue
project objectives, in a challenging context. 
The post-holder will work from both the British Council office in
Central Jakarta and the Indonesian Ministry of Defence Language Education and
Training Centre in South Jakarta. The post-holder will be expected to
regularly travel to other military language schools around Indonesia as well
the Indonesian peacekeeping training centre.
To be considered, you will need to have a Trinity DipTESOL or DELTA,
plus experience of working with military or security forces on an ELT project
and previous project management experience. For more information on criteria,

Start
date:
End of Sept 2016 (ideally Monday 19, September) and Interviews
will likely be held one week after application deadline closes.
