Trainee on Knowledge and Information Management (Project: ExploRE)

Project Overview

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German implementing organization which provides services worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has years involvement in the area of renewable energy in Indonesia.

In Indonesia, GIZ is implementing various energy projects under the umbrella of the Energy Program Indonesia/ASEAN which works across various thematic pillars and areas which represent by several projects. As part of the Programme’s pool of projects working with Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation – Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (DJ EBTKE – MEMR), GIZ is currently implementing a project, funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI), German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), called “Strategic Exploration of Economic Mitigation Potentials through Renewables “(ExploRE). The project aims to enhance strategic options on renewable energies (RE) in the energy, climate, development, and financial sectors and to help create a more coherent environment between key players.

The project organizes the activities in Indonesia under four outputs. Those are:

  1. RE deployment strategy
  2. Political instruments and financial environment
  3. Institutional building
  4. Innovation

To support implementation of the project, we are seeking one (1) energetic and detail-oriented Indonesian candidate for this position.


Assisting in the day-to-day activities of knowledge and information management within the ExploRE project framework, focusing on project monitoring and implementation of capacity development activities, as well as in the Project’s success stories formulation.


These following tasks provide a framework and can be adjusted during the traineeship:

    • Assist in the preparation of various capacity building activities under RE topics such as financial modelling for RE projects, Carbon Economic Value, technical and safety aspects, and etc.
    • Assist in the coordination with consultants, vendors, and Project counterparts (government and SOEs) in the organisation of events.
    • Assist in the formulation of various success stories from ExploRE Project implementation.
    • Support in various knowledge management including contact database management, digital asset management, and digital inventory management.
    • Support in identifying opportunities and platforms for wider dissemination of knowledge products.
    • Support in social media content development and media engagement activities.
    • General administrative and communications support as assigned.
    • Assist in other relevant tasks as requested.

Job Requirements


  • Fresh graduate or last semester undergraduate student in communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, graphic design or other related academic fields.
  • Skilled in using graphic design software and creating visual materials, e.g. posters, infographic.
  • Familiarity with various online meeting platforms.
  • Familiarity with document management using Microsoft-based working environment (SharePoint and Microsoft 365 for Enterprise).
  • Preferably active in student/public organizations or activities.

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Good communication, organization, writing skills, and information management skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn and upgrade skills.
  • Self-motivated with good time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Indonesian and English language (both written and spoken).
  • Ability to work in a team and to adapt to an international working environment.

Duty Station: Jakarta

Working Hours: 5 working days per week, 8 working hours per day

Expected Joining Date:  a.s.a.p.

Period of Traineeship: 6 months
