Tetra Tech ARD is currently
recruiting for the
Biodiversity Conservation Advisor, Jakarta
based on our USAID LESTARI project. USAID’s LESTARI project supports the Government of Indonesia to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and conserve biodiversity in carbon rich and biologically significant
forest and mangrove ecosystems.

 

Job Summary:
the Biodiversity Conservation
Advisor serves as the lead LESTARI technical specialist for successful implementation of
Improved Management of Conservation Areas & Protection of Key Species. In  this  role,
 s/he advises and supports the
Chief of Party and senior management team
in the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to improve management of conservation areas and protection of key species in LESTARI landscapes in Aceh, Central Kalimantan and Papua.
The Advisor works with relevant staff, subcontractors, and GOI conservation officials to determine an integrated site and system-based approach for measurably improving protected area and species conservation,
as measured annually by the METT, Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool. The Advisor will develop and roll-out site-specific co-management strategies to build greater local support for PA management, species conservation and ex-situ conservation as part of
a broader sustainable landscape approach. This is a senior management position open to qualified Indonesians, and requires demonstrated management capacity including staff, subcontract and grants management; articulation of a complex technical vision to LESTARI
staff and partners; a strong network of relationships with government and civil society conservation leaders; and demonstrated ability to work as a team player.

 

Requirements include
at least ten years’ experience working on protected areas and/or species conservation issues in Indonesia; demonstrated network within Indonesia’s conservation community, including relevant government and non-government
organizations; innovative visions for fostering effective co-management agreements for conservation;
strong management capacity demonstrated by at least 5 years in a management position on an internationally-funded project; advanced degree in conservation or a related field; fluency in written and spoken English
and Bahasa Indonesia; familiarity with USAID procedures and regulations is an advantage; willing to work and travel intensively and extensively in the field; and demonstrated ability to
be a team leader and team player.
