(COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING CONSULTANT)Background: Fauna & Flora International (FFI) is implementing a European Union
funded project (2013-2016) with an overall objective
“To mobilise and enable key stakeholders in Aceh to realise a provincial
climate change mitigation and adaption strategy through inclusive planning,
implementation and monitoring.” The project will be implemented through three
objectives: i) Develop a REDD+ climate
change policy framework in Aceh through a multi-stakeholder process; ii) Strengthen
the role of the multi-stakeholder forum to address priority climate change
issues in Aceh; and, iii) Demonstrate how a
multi-stakeholder network can be established to prevent deforestation. Objective: To work under the supervision of the
Programme Manager (PM) for FFI in Aceh, and in close coordination with the
Management Team of the FFI Indonesia Programme office and Communications staff
based in the UK, FFI is seeking a Communications and Reporting Consultant to
assist the PM with communications and reporting targets in the final stages of
the above project. Key Functions/Responsibilities: ·
Draft regular reports in consultation with the PM.
Edit and translate reports into formal English;·
Increase the visibility of the project and its
funder by increasing communications outputs using a variety of media, in
consultation with the PM and UK Communications team;·
Initiate communications stories and ideas based
around project activities and results, in conjunction with project staff, the
UK Communications team and the PM;·
Act as the focal point for project documentation
and information gathering, using existing FFI systems where possible and a
thorough, methodical approach;·
Create a library of project resources, reports,
field outputs, images and other documentation accessible to all project team
members and embedded within FFI’s systems for the long term; ·
Become familiar with project funding rules and
regulations regarding reporting and communications and ensure tasks are carried
out to ensure high levels of compliance;·
Any other task that may be requested by the PM Requirements/Person Specification: ·
University degree in communications
or a related field;·
Proven ability to
manage project information using an organised and methodical approach taking
into account existing institutional systems and processes;·
Proven ability to centralise
and organise dispersed project information into structured systems in line with
project objectives and outcomes;·
At least two years’ experience
of working in a communications-focused role;·
Excellent speaking
and writing skills in English;·
Proven experience of
producing news stories and knowledge of using social media to highlight project
results is desirable;·
Proven experience of
liaising with colleagues remotely to complete project activities and to meet
reporting and communications deadlines;·
A collaborative,
flexible and collaborative approach with NGO partners, colleagues and other
stakeholders;·
High competency in
using computer systems (Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop), internet
navigation, and everyday office equipment such as photocopier, scanner, fax
machine, and fax machine;·
Ability to work
independently with minimal supervision Duty Station and
Travel: The post is based in FFI’s office in Banda Aceh with necessary travel
within the country for reporting and communications tasks related to project
activities. The Communications and Reporting Consultant will report to the PM
and will work in close collaboration with programme and support team staff. Contract Arrangements Start Date: 01 October
