Jakarta, IndonesiaDepartment: Environment GroupReports to: Project Director POSITION SUMMARYWinrock International is recruiting a Peatland GHG Training
Coordinator for an anticipated project on GHG accounting for donor-funded clean
energy and natural resource management projects. This position will be based in
Jakarta, Indonesia. The anticipated project will provide reliable and
defendable GHG estimates at project and portfolio levels across a range of
renewable energy and community-based natural resource management activities and
provide technical assistance and training on GHG emissions and sequestration
associated with peatland restoration projects. RESPONSIBILITIESServe as Peatland GHG Training
Coordinator focused on developing and implementing technical training in
approaches for estimating emission changes from peatland restoration. The
applicant will be expected to:
Lead the design
and implementation of training for various stakeholders.·
Determine
training needs and approach for building capacity of specific stakeholder to
understand and estimate and the GHG emissions implications associated with
peatland rewetting.·
Work with other
team members to design GHG accounting methods specific for peatland
restoration. This will include field data collection and monitoring approaches.

Create and
perform training on the application of the estimation methodologies, the use of
GHG estimation tools, and the scientific
principles and mechanisms related to GHG emissions associated with peatlands
and peatland restoration efforts.·
Provide technical
assistance to team members and project managers as needed for acquisition of
data.·
Serve as a
communicator, understanding natural resources and GHG science, and providing
GHG technical training to laymen in the Indonesian and English language.·
At the end of the
training period, produce a document that summarizes the training provided,
including key topics covered, the training process, the list of trainees, the challenges
in the use of the tools, and suggestions to anticipate to those challenges.·
Produce materials
and training modules·
Manage team of
short term trainers who will implement training materials created·
Maintain
knowledge of evolving issues in the global climate change and environmental
fields. ·
Communicate and
work with a wide range of stakeholders in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.·
Oversee and
coordinate the work of training team.·
Preparing written
reports and statistical tables using standard computer programs in the
Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint).·
Coordinate with
project staff and with the U.S. based staff of Winrock’s Ecosystem Services and
Clean Energy and Water groups.·
Other duties as
assigned.
- Expertise in peatlands, peatland rewetting activities, and peatland
GHG emission accounting - At least 5 years of related experience in technical training, with
at least one project related GHG emissions assessments. - Solid understanding of natural resources management, climate
science, and carbon accounting, with relevant experience working with GHG
accounting methodologies, GHG modeling, and natural resource management
projects. - Ability to build and manage databases and data collection
approaches, while interfacing with many stakeholders - Excellent communication skills, including excellent written and
spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia
- Excellent computer
skills, including word-processing, spreadsheets and PowerPoint.
Bachelor’s degree required, Masters
preferred. Preferred disciplines include Education, Engineering, Natural
Resource Management, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences or a related
field.
