Communication Officer
Job Description
Role : Execution & Support: Implement tasks, produce standard content, manage routine activities, support seniors.
- Understand & implement assigned parts of communication plans
- Contribute basic activity ideas for specific plans
- Draft routine press releases/advisories (under review); Handle basic media inquiries
- Assist with pitching standard stories; Maintain positive contact with listed media
- Assist in compiling information during crisis situations
- Write/edit standard comms materials (web updates, social media series, basic articles, internal news)
- Support story gathering & drafting initial case study outlines
- Execute routine website updates & draft standard blog posts
- Execute day-to-day social media posting & scheduling; Monitor engagement; Draft basic posts
- Respond to routine comments/queries; Compile basic social media analytics data
- Create basic multimedia content (simple graphics, short video edits)
- Draft routine internal updates & announcements; Help manage specific channels (e.g., section updates)
- Support dissemination of internal comms materials
- Support communication logistics for events/meetings; Draft basic stakeholder updates (under review)
- Assist in preparing standard materials for stakeholder meetings
- Compile monitoring data (media clips, social stats); Prepare routine reports
- Track basic KPIs for assigned tasks
- Provide general team support; Possibly guide Intern on specific simple tasks; Handle comms admin
- Track expenses for specific activities (under guidance)
- Other tasks as needed by the Organization
Key Skills and Competencies
- Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in the field of communications, public relations, or journalism within companies, NGOs, or media organisations.
- Experience in at least one communication-related assignment in the past 4 (four) years with government or private institutions, including subcontracted work.
- Demonstrated network and collaboration with media, government agencies, academic institutions, and/or international organizations, supported by examples such as published articles, communication campaigns, or event documentation
- At least a bachelor’s degree in communication, Design, Journalism, Social Sciences, Development Economics, International Relations, or other relevant fields.
- Proven experience in social media management, including platform strategy, content planning, and engagement.
- Ability to coordinate and produce digital communication materials (e.g. infographics, videos, multimedia content).
- Have a communication network with government, media, academics, and international institutions with supporting evidence in the form of links/articles or other evidence of work that has been produced;
- Having experience in managing PR-related events
- Having an understanding and ability to use social media is an added value with supporting evidence in the form of links or other evidence of work that has been produced
- Having an understanding and ability to coordinate and produce digital content is an added value
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Any other responsibilities that may be assigned by Organization from time to time.
