We Are Hiring: Research Officer (Economist)

Kaleka, (Kaleka.id) is an Indonesian non-profit research institute established in 2014 with aims to sustainable and equitable production of commodities and use of natural resources by engaging governments, business, and social communities. As we scale up, we are seeking motivated and skilled professionals to join our team and support our mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct economic and financial analyses related to environmental science and sustainable agriculture, including feasibility studies, incentive mechanisms, cost-benefit assessments, price analysis, and market research for farming enterprises.
• Contribute to the implementation of the work program on quantitative policy analysis by developing and applying analytical and policy tools to assess rural development policies and related areas.
• Contribute to the development of knowledge products that strengthen evidence-based understanding of issues related to economic and rural development and poverty reduction, such as analytical reports, peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, working papers, and country reports.
• Support in preparation of project reports and presentation materials for donors, ensuring that reports reflect progress, achievements, and challenges in line with donor standards.
• Liaise and engage with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain positive relationships and ensure timely follow-up.

Qualifications

• Master’s or equivalent degree in Economics, Public Policy, Agricultural Economics, Natural Resource Economics, or related field.
• Min. 2 years experiences working in agricultural economics, rural development, or sustainable development issue.
• Demonstrated knowledge in policy, research & technical skills in the relevant area & ability to acquire them.
• Good interpersonal & communication skills, incl. experience in cross-cultural environment & international settings.
• Proven ability to develop & maintain sound working relationships w/ government representatives, public & private sector organizations, as well as other stakeholders.
• Proven problem-solving skills in a complex organizational environment & in work planning.
• Proven ability for accuracy under pressure & adherence to deadlines.
• Commitment to teamwork & collaborative work practices.
• Excellent command of English (written & spoken).
• Familiar with econometrics & statistical tools.
