The Asian Species Action Partnership (ASAP)

The Asian Species Action Partnership (ASAP) is focused solely on the conservation of Critically Endangered land and freshwater vertebrate species (ASAP Species) found in Southeast Asia. The ASAP Secretariat is hosted by Mandai Nature in Singapore and is convened under the IUCN SSC. The ASAP Partnership consists of over 280 organisations (ASAP Partners), the majority of which are local NGOs in Southeast Asia.

ASAP supports its Partners to deliver vital conservation work in a region that, without urgent intervention, will lose much of its unique and rich biodiversity. The ASAP Secretariat has a 5-year strategy with four areas of intervention:

Your Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, driven and collaborative Partner and Programme Coordinator to support our conservation partners in Indonesia to achieve important conservation outcomes. You will act as a critical connector for these individuals and organisations into ASAP programmes, whilst also informing ASAP programme design and delivery.

Key Accountabilities:

Regional Relationship Management:

This role builds strong, trust-based relationships with local ASAP Partners in Indonesia, serving as their primary point of contact across onboarding to the partnership, grants, organisational development, and engagement opportunities. It identifies and assesses potential partners, guides applicants through programme requirements with clear communication and constructive feedback.

The role gathers insights through surveys, informal conversations, and evaluation frameworks to ensure local experiences shape our programme strategies. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide support and guidance to local organisations and this role is at the forefront of these services.

Programme Design, Delivery and Reporting:

This role contributes to the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of ASAP programmes by shaping strategies, frameworks, and metrics, and supporting the creation of core tools, templates, and communications. It reviews partner applications, supports partners through the grant process, and monitors field delivery to ensure alignment between local teams and the central ASAP team. The role supports programme evaluations, reporting and helps guide programme decisions, strengthen internal knowledge, and ensure impactful, ethical, and well-coordinated implementation. A core role will be to support selected local Indonesian ASAP Partners through the entire, long-term, organisational development process. This will be achieved through a mixture of direct support to the supported organisations and the contracting of suitable specialist consultants.

Data Management:

This role supports accurate data management by helping record, update, and maintain partner, participant, and organisational information, and by assisting with the upkeep of pipelines for grants and programme engagement.

Communications:

This role works closely with Communications to develop project communications, impact stories, obtain photographs and content and actively support improving the visibility of supported ASAP Partners.

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualifications to degree level in a relevant subject or an associated field e.g. wildlife conservation, international development, anthropology, sociology, etc.
• 8+ years of experience in relationship management, conservation initiatives.
• Capabilities in project management, relationship management, teamwork, planning and organisation, communication, initiative and self-management.
• Experience working for national or local conservation organisations in Indonesia
• Written and verbal fluency in English and Indonesian Bahasa
• Excellent communication skills, including outreach to external stakeholders and report writing
• Ability to work in MS Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
• Experience facilitating workshops or processes desirable

Terms

Location: based in Indonesia. Remote / work from home.

Expected start date: as soon as possible.

Salary: 2000 to 2600 Singaporean Dollars gross a month, depending on experience (approximately 25 to 33 million Indonesian Rupiah). The salary is inclusive of taxes, social security contributions, and religious holiday allowance. The successful candidate will be responsible for paying their own taxes and any other mandatory deductions from gross income.

Annual bonuses: an additional month’s salary, subject to performance reviews.

Holidays: 21 days paid annual leave and Indonesian public holidays.

The successful candidate must have the legal right to live and work in Indonesia.

Travel will be required to visit ASAP Partners in Indonesia. All travel expenses will be covered by ASAP. This includes travel insurance.

Additional Information

Indonesia is of particular significance for ASAP. As of 2025, the country has the largest number of ASAP Species (Critically Endangered land and freshwater vertebrate species) and the largest number of ASAP Partners at over 90. The majority of ASAP Partners in Indonesia are national organisations, often with limited access to resources. Therefore, a significant proportion of ASAP grants have been to projects focused on ASAP Species endemic to Indonesia, and national organisations from the country have featured prominently in ASAP’s other programmes. Currently there are two Indonesian organisations that are part of ASAP’s long-term organisational development programme and efforts are underway to include a further three. This programme will provide long-term support on aspects related to organisational health or resilience. This includes support on organisational strategy development, fundraising, communications, management, and governance.
