With 34 active member organizations, KEM has united stakeholders with a shared vision encompassing commitments to sustainability: 100 jurisdictions with dedicated policies and planning in sustainability, 100+ businesses operating with sustainable practices and connected to sustainable supply chain, and unlocking transactions, investments, or financing totaling 200 million USD. This interconnected framework highlights KEM’s aspiration to channel funding into sustainable businesses situated within jurisdictions committed to fostering environmental and social responsibility.
As KEM continues to expand its reach and strengthen its ecosystem, the organization seeks a Director to lead cross-cutting functions in monitoring, evaluation, learning, communication, partnership, and membership, ensuring that KEM’s programs and initiatives are coherently narrated, strategically communicated, and systematically tracked for learning and impact. This role is pivotal in transforming insights from KEM’s ongoing work into shared knowledge and actionable strategies that advance the coalition’s collective mission.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are looking for a Deputy to provide strategic leadership and oversight for KEM’s cross-cutting functions, including monitoring, evaluation, learning (MEL), knowledge management, communication, partnership, and membership. This role ensures that KEM’s programs and initiatives are coherently narrated, strategically communicated, and systematically tracked for learning and impact.
The Deputy is responsible for transforming insights from KEM’s diverse activities and collaborations into actionable strategies and shared knowledge that strengthen organizational learning, member engagement, and external partnerships. By ensuring alignment between evidence, narrative, and engagement, this role is pivotal in advancing KEM’s collective mission and sustaining its credibility as a collaborative platform for transformative change.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership and Integration
- Provide overall leadership to align cross-cutting functions, MEL, knowledge management, communication, partnership, and membership, under a unified framework that supports KEM’s Theory of Change and OKR.
- Advise the Executive Director and management team on strategies that strengthen institutional learning, visibility, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure that data, insights, and evidence inform decision-making, strategy development, and external communication.
Evidence, Learning, and Knowledge Systems
- Oversee the implementation of KEM’s MEL and knowledge management systems to ensure data-driven planning, reflection, and accountability.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptive management across KEM’s Secretariat and Working Groups.
- Ensure lessons, insights, and case studies from KEM programs and members are systematically captured, curated, and shared to inform decisions and amplify collective impact.
Strategic Communication, Engagement, and Partnerships
- Lead the development and implementation of KEM’s communication and engagement strategy to amplify visibility, coherence, and credibility.
- Strengthen KEM’s public voice and thought leadership through evidence-based storytelling and data-driven communication.
- Guide partnership and membership engagement to foster collaboration, shared ownership, and long-term value creation across the coalition.
Leadership, Coordination, and Representation
- Supervise and mentor the team, it includes MEL Specialist, Partnership & Communication Consultant, and related staff or consultants, ensuring collaboration and performance alignment.
- Facilitate coordination between the Secretariat, Working Groups, and partner organizations to ensure alignment of strategic priorities.
- Represent KEM in external partnerships, learning networks, and multi-stakeholder dialogues as delegated by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public policy, sustainable development, communications, or other related field.
- At least 9 years of progressive professional experience, with 4+ years leading cross-functional teams in coalitions, networks, or multi-stakeholder initiatives. Candidates with a Master’s degree may qualify with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of designing or managing MEL systems, knowledge platforms, or communication strategies that integrate evidence and narrative.
- Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and fostering collaboration across organizations or sectors.
- Familiarity with sustainability, climate, and nature-based economy issues in Indonesia or Southeast Asia is a strong advantage.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and systems thinking capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Strong facilitation and partnership-building skills, with experience in multi-sector collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling narratives.
- Fluency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English (spoken and written).
- High level of integrity, adaptability, and ability to work under minimal supervision while managing competing priorities.
TERM OF OFFER
- Contract Period: Grant-funded until 2026, with potential for extension.
- Reporting: The Deputy will report to the Executive Director.
- Duty Station: Jakarta, Indonesia (hybrid), with travel necessary based on the needs.
