Senior Gender Officer
Introduction

Solidaridad (www.solidaridadnetwork.org) is working for fostering sustainability and empowerment of smallholders and workers, by developing scalable and economically sustainable solutions in the agricultural and industrial landscape in close collaboration with governments, businesses and communities.
Position Overview
A Senior Gender Officer in the agriculture industry will play a vital role in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment within the sector. S/he would be primary responsible to develop and implement initiatives that address gender-related issues, foster inclusivity, and by collaborating with various stakeholders, s/he will contribute to advancing gender-responsive policies, practices, and programs within the agriculture sector.
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager – GCF and strategic support from national and regional technical expertise, the job holder will have to assist in planning, supervising and managing the implementation of the project. The job holder will be accountable for delivering results and responsible for achieving the milestones of the organisation.
S/he will execute and manage the field mobilization, operation, managing and monitoring the partners, ensuring best optimization of budget, teams and resources.
Responsibilities
Planning and Coordination
- Plan all activities related to gender inclusivity in Solidaridad Indonesia. Design and implement gender-responsive strategies across commodity value chains (e.g., palm oil, cocoa, coffee, etc).
- Collaborate closely with project managers and partner organizations to ensure the integration of gender perspectives in all projects within the region.
Integration of Gender in Projects
- Design and deliver gender-specific activities, such as workshops and training sessions, to enhance gender awareness and build capacity as needed.
- Ensure gender equity is embedded in environmental and social safeguards, certification schemes, and sustainability standards.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Collect, analyse, and interpret the data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Produce regular reports and presentations on gender-related topics, ensuring accurate and timely information dissemination, outcomes, and challenges related to gender mainstreaming efforts.
Technical Support & Advisory
- Provide guidance on gender-sensitive indicators, baseline/endline methodologies, and MEL frameworks.
- Support project teams in developing Gender Action Plans (GAPs) and integrating gender into donor proposals and reporting.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Establish monitoring mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of gender initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
Coordination
- Collaborate with partners to ensure project deliverables and outcomes are achieved. Conduct monthly reviews of financial and programmatic aspects.
Networking
- Network with stakeholders involved in gender mainstreaming in agriculture and supply chains within the region.
Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building
- Collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to promote cross-sectoral partnerships and knowledge sharing
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and working groups to advocate for gender equality and contribute to sector-wide initiatives.
- Facilitate gender policy dialogue with governments, donors, and private sector actors.
- Lead training and mentoring for implementing partners, cooperatives, and field teams on gender equity and inclusion.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., gender studies, social sciences, international development) with minimum 5 years’ experience in the same position.
- Proven experience working on gender-related projects or programs, preferably within the Palm or agriculture sector.
- Strong knowledge of gender equality frameworks, international conventions, and best practices.
- Strong grasp of gender analysis tools, participatory approaches, and inclusive value chain development.
- Familiarity with sustainability standards (e.g., RSPO, Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade) and ESG frameworks.
- Excellent communication both in Bahasa and English and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Empathetic leadership and ability to navigate complex cultural and institutional contexts.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the capability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
