Overview
USAID SEGAR is seeking a short-term technical assistant (STTA) – MEL Assistant for Jakarta office, with following details:

USAID SEGAR is a five-year (2021–2026) Activity designed to advance Indonesia’s development objectives by balancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use with inclusive economic and livelihood development. To accomplish this, the targeted subnational jurisdictions with high conservation values and high carbon stocks will be under improved management of natural resources that measurably conserve biodiversity, decrease greenhouse gas emissions from unsustainable land use, and promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
To achieve the overall goal, USAID SEGAR will achieve the following two objectives:
- Strengthened inclusive environmental governance in targeted subnational jurisdictions that advances biodiversity conservation, sustainable forest management, and sustainable land use.
- Increased implementation of environmental and social sustainability goals within private sector natural resource commodity production supply chains that reduces threats to biodiversity and greenhouse gas emissions from land use.
USAID SEGAR works in four regions with total twelve intervention districts; 1) Aceh (Aceh Tamiang, Aceh Utara, Aceh Timur); 2) Central Kalimantan (Seruyan, Kotawaringin Barat); 3) West Kalimantan (Ketapang, Kubu Raya, Sanggau, Sintang); and 4) East Kalimantan (Berau, Kutai Timur, Mahakam Ulu).
Key Tasks
- Tracking missing documents from site/Jakarta teams, grantee, and subcontractors.
- Preparing survey design and tools, as well as compiling data of targeted respondent.
- Collecting, tabulating, and managing survey data from sites for indicators 6 and 10.
- Collecting, tabulating, and managing survey data from sites for indicators 11 and 14.
- Tracking and compiling data of DBHDR funds usage.
- Ensuring all documents from Direct Activities are in SharePoint.
- Compiling STTA deliverables from sites/Jakarta
- Compiling Subcontract deliverables.
- Compiling data achievement PWS from site/Jakarta team.
- Ensuring the completeness of evidence in each achievement before it is verified by MEL officer.
- Manage data in DevResults.
- Assist MEL officer in verifying indicator and PWS result achievements.
- Complete other MEL-related tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in social science, evaluation research, statistics, economics, or another MEL-related field.
- Minimum of four years of experience working on M&E, environmental monitoring, data research and analysis, or another related field.
- Prior Experience with data collection related to the environment, conservation, agriculture, forestry or sustainable landscapes.
- Database management experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both written and orally.
- Experience of working with USAID or other international donor-funded projects in Indonesia preferred.
- Good computer skills in excel, word processing, database management system/application, office 365, and any internet-based application.
- Must be detail and quality- oriented and able to work independently or in team.
