Who We Are

Kaleka, previously known as Inobu, is an Indonesian non-profit research institute established in 2014. Kaleka’s collaborative applied research is intended to inform policy and design innovations that leads to the sustainable and equitable production of commodities and use of natural resources. Key of Responsibilities
  • Develop plans, carry out analytical research, implement programs & report on activities in West Papua Province.
  • Conduct literature studies & implement programs related to maritime affairs, aquaculture & other relevant topics.
  • Coordinate with other parties, such as village officials and the government, to support field activities.
  • Conduct qualitative studies through interviews (surveys, semi-structured), focus group discussion, as well as analysis & writing of reports and scientific articles.
  • Carrying out research related to marine and aquaculture, including writing analysis reports & other policy documents.
  • Analyze the livelihoods of coastal communities in West Papua.
  • Supporting coastal communities to develop strategies & improve aquaculture by adopting innovative methods.
  • Involved in the Jurisdiction Certification process in Fakfak Regency in West Papua, including planning, literature study, coordination & discussions with the parties that focus on marine and aquaculture.
  • Supporting the engagement process, including presenting research results with various parties, including government at the central and regional levels, the private sector, donor agencies, civil society organizations, and local communities (including farmers and indigenous communities).

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine & Aquaculture or a related field.
  • Proven experience in marine & aquaculture projects.
  • Strong knowledge of marine, aquaculture techniques & management of fishery products from upstream to downstream.
  • Familiarity with relevant marine & aquaculture regulations, policies, & standards.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage & collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use scientific research & data to drive decision-making processes.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities & meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites & participate in fieldwork as required.
