Strategic Development Officer

Location: Indonesia (Remote, with occasional domestic travel)

Contract: 12 months, with potential to renew
Remuneration: IDR 8–10.5 million/month, based on experience

Overview
Justice Without Borders (JWB) is seeking a proactive Strategic Development Officer to help grow our operations and impact in Indonesia. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals passionate about social justice, nonprofit development, and building sustainable programs.

You will play a key role in strategy development, fundraising, and external engagement, working closely with both the Indonesia and regional teams. The role supports our organisational growth in Indonesia while contributing to JWB’s broader cross-border mission.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Organisational Growth

  • Actively contribute to shaping the office’s direction to support growth and impact.
  • Work with the Team to ensure that Indonesia’s initiatives are fully aligned with JWB’s broader regional mission, values, and goals.

Fundraising and External Engagement

  • Identify funding opportunities and assist in developing fundraising strategies aligned with JWB’s mission and priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, grant-making bodies, universities, civil society organisations, and government partners.
  • Prepare grant applications, funding proposals, donor reports, and other communications to ensure timely and accurate engagement.
  • Support fundraising events, campaigns, and outreach activities to promote JWB’s work and attract financial support.

Grant Management and Program Support

  • Track donor commitments, reporting deadlines, and grant compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with the Program Officer to collect program updates, data, and success stories required for donor reporting and grant management.
  • Maintain documentation, tracking systems, and knowledge-sharing tools to support grant reporting and donor communications.
  • Assist in resolving minor coordination issues that could impact donor reporting, grant compliance, or external communications.

In this role, you will help bring JWB’s impact to life by supporting fundraising, managing grants, engaging donors and partners, and translating program successes into compelling stories for funders. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, working across teams, and using their skills to help a purpose-driven organisation grow and make a real difference.

Required:

  • University degree (any discipline), with preference for development studies, international relations, political science, or law.
  • Experience in fundraising, grant reporting, and/or strategic operations.
  • Excellent written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort with managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated interest in migrant rights, social justice, or access to justice.
  • Based in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), with availability for occasional in-person meetings and travel.
  • Initiative, professionalism, and ability to work independently within a remote team.

Terms of Engagement

  • 12-month contract with potential renewal.
  • Reports to the Head of Office, Indonesia, and works closely with the regional leadership and development teams.
  • 15 days of paid annual leave, in addition to public holidays and year-end office closure.
  • Salary range: IDR 8–10.5 million/month, based on experience.
  • Hybrid working model: Remote, with at least two in-office days per month and external meetings as needed.
  • Includes professional development and coaching support.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
