only, based in Jakarta Office, Fixed Term Contract for seven months (extension
possible). And on D level.


RESEARCH OFFICER – Economic
Justice Programme

Job Purpose:
To ensure that EJ program is developed based on strong data and baseline
and has solid evidence of impacts. The post will help to ensure that knowledge
produced as a result of EJ works are well captured and widely disseminated.
Finally it will help to position Oxfam as point of reference for issues
covered by the Oxfam Country Strategy


Key Responsibility:

·        Playing
a key role in the coordination and commissioning of research, including
developing terms of references and consultant selection and management/supervision
to ensure that research is done on time, on budget and with high quality.


·        Together
with MEL Officer and Programme Coordinators,
 identify
project goals, research aand data collection methods, variables, and other
test parameters

·        Undertaking
on a wide range of research projects and employing a range of different
research methodologies discussing and agreeing project requirements with
clients (policy officials, ministers);

·        Producing
both written and oral briefs for EJ team members, based on reviews of research
evidence;

·        Responding
to external and internal research enquiries from colleagues, other Oxfams,
government departments, academics, local councils, regional development
agencies and members of the public;

·        Keeping
up to date with developments in policy and social issues, as well as qualitative
and quantitative research methods;

·        Supporting
Oxfam partners in research, and building their research skills

·        Potentially,
delivering presentations at conferences.


·        Helping
to ensure all Oxfam’s work addresses gender inequality, including assisting
NGO/partners in mainstreaming gender in their research and data gathering

Job Requirements:

·        At
least 3 years experiences in research or non-government development organization
with responsibility in policy development, research, communication, and/or
lobbying


·        Education
to a degree level in a relevant discipline.


·        Analytical
skills with knowledge and good understanding on global and national development
issues.  Proven experience in developing advocacy position paper on
globalisation, trade, and development aid will be an advantage.


·        Ability
to work as part of a team and communicate effectively, both verbally and
in writing


·        Fluency
in both written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia and English


·        Computer
literacy


·        Willingness
to work flexible hours and to travel frequently within countries and overseas.


·        Commitment
