Transformasi Vacancy – Research Coordinator (REVISED)
The Center for Public Policy Transformation (Transformasi) is a non-profit organization established in 2014, with the vision to promote better policy making in Indonesia. It is committed to accomplish the following missions: (1) promoting high quality, collaborative studies engaging government, public and domestic and international partners, (2) strengthening active knowledge networks among national and local policy makers, scholars and communities to encourage evidence-based policy making and (3) harnessing the capacity of policy makers in the policy making process. Transformasi works with think tank groups and multi partners to conduct policy researches, perform case study analyses, and facilitate policy forum in order to identify the best possible recommendations for policy makers.
Therefore, Transformasi is highly dedicated in building the awareness of policy makers to recognize the importance of good information to address critical issues, deepening their understanding of existing problems, and using such evidence to explore alternative policy options for an improved decision making.
Transformasi is seeking a dynamic Research Coordinator who can be the lead person in conducting, overseeing and supervising various research activities, in line with Transformasi program. The Research Coordinator will be in charge to develop strategic research program, steer research and assessment activities, supervise research consultants, ensure research quality, and disseminate research results. The holder of this position will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Program Director and the Policy Advisor in developing and implementing research activities. He or she will be stationed at the Transformasi Headquarters in Jakarta (with travel to research and project sites).
Summary of duties and responsibilities:
1. Lead Transformasi Research Activities
o Lead policy research at national and sub-national levels, and conduct research tasks by preparing proposal and methodology, collecting, compiling, processing and analyzing data.
o Compose policy briefs (in English) with the support from consultants and other team members as determined by the Directors.
o Oversee and appoint research consultant, peer reviewer, enumerator, and surveyor.
o Ensure the quality of research through expert consultation, peer review and other mechanisms, as required.
o Oversee the development of database obtained from research and assessment activities (if needed).
o Prepare publication of research results/reports, including but not limited to policy briefs, op-eds, info graphics and journal publications.
o Deliver presentations to Transformasi (internal) and external parties as required.
o Contribute to other research activities as required.
2. Provide project management and cross coordination with other team
o Coordinate meetings and dialogues in relation to the research work and activities.
o Organizing public dialogues content, identifying speakers, oversee the preparation of proceedings with the support other team member.
o Establish collaboration and cooperation with other experts and think tank organizations.
o Organize workshops, field works, trainings, and knowledge sharing with key stakeholders and partners as required.
o Maintain appropriate communications with key stakeholders and partners as required. These may include local and national government agencies; environmental and development agencies, social advocacy NGOs; private companies if applicable; and donor organizations.
o Represent Transformasi in meetings as required.
o Other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
o Master’s degree in economics, policy studies, social sciences, natural resources, or other related disciplines.
o Minimum 10 years of working experience in research work or related fields.
o The ability to demonstrate strong knowledge on natural resource economic or fishery is an advantage.
o Competent in personal organization and priority setting, with the ability to work effectively under pressure, tight deadline, and able to manage multiple priorities.
o Is highly initiative and capable of working independently as well as being an effective team player.
o Has good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with people in a multi-discipline and multi-cultural environment.
o Has experience working with a wide and diverse network of groups and individuals.
o Is knowledgeable in qualitative and or quantitative research in policy, social, and economic studies.
o Is knowledgeable in comparative studies.
o Has excellent fluency in English, both verbally and in writing.
o Has good computer skills, particularly in database application.
