NUTRITION SPECIALIST – ROTE MALOLE

SurfAid is a non-profit organization which aims to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing. SurfAid is currently working in a few locations in Indonesia: Mentawai Island District in West Sumatera, Sumba Barat and Rote Ndao Districts in NTT. We work in the areas that are considered the most remote, with limited infrastructure and few community empowerment programs working there.

Currently our program in Rote is looking for an experienced and resourceful person with a positive “CAN DO” attitude to join the team as our:

NUTRITION SPECIALIST – ROTE MALOLE

As part of the Rote Malole Program Team, Nutrition Specialist is responsible to support Rote Malole Program Manager in integrating all program components, ensuring that that women and men practice key behaviours to break the chain of intergenerational malnutrition, and applying Social Behaviour Change Strategy as our approach in our program interventions. The Nutrition Specialist is also responsible for increasing the quality of programs and interventions through organising continuous learning and capacity building for the Rote Malole Program team.

 

THE PERSON:

You are a creative person, independent, a team player and have affinity to develop the team. You will live and work at our program locations in remote areas, often with limited access and facilities. It would be great if you are used to working with small organizations, as you are required to be hands-on in a small team setting.

 

THE QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Minimum Bachelor degree from any major. Having education background with public health community and MCH and nutrition is more desirable;
  • At least 5 years’ experience of working in the areas of program/project of MCH, nutrition, public/community health, market, preferably for International NGOs;
  • Experience working in isolated islands/rural areas. In East Indonesia is more desirable;
  • MCH, Nutrition, Food security, Advocacy, Behaviour Change, Monitoring Evaluation and project management;
  • Good writing skills;
  • Good English (written and verbal);
  • Good interpersonal communication skills;
  • Good team player;
  • Behaviour change communication, to explore the most significant behaviour changes that can improve nutrition.
